God’s desire is to constantly speak to us. He does so through a number
of different ways. He can speak audibly. He can speak through the Bible – His Word, He can speak via the avenue of prayer, He may speak through circumstances, He can even speak through a dream or a vision. He may speak in a whisper to our inner being where we get a sense or prompting in our spirit. At other times God may speak directly through another person. This was often the case in Old Testament times as God spoke through Prophets. We see several occasions in the New Testament where God also spoke clearly through people in this way. God hasn’t changed, He still desires to speak, He loves us and wants to communicate with us, revealing more of Himself and His ways.

1 Thessalonians 5:20 tells us not to despise, or ignore prophesies, but to “weigh” them, to test them. We are to be faithful with what God speaks directly to us and take those words and pray them into being with faith.

Following is a prophetic word given by Gill Patterson over this church shortly before Robyn and I arrived. I have included it this month as a reminder to us all of God’s promise over us. Let us together take this word and expect God to move.

“The dwelling I have given You in this region is not permanent. (this building will be too small) The area where I have posted you I want you to widen because I have given you a broad and roomy pasture. Where I have placed you, stretch your comfort zones and extend the sphere of your influence. The gifts and ministries I have given you, the material blessings I have provided, the wealth that is in yourself, don’t hold on to them tightly. I have freely and liberally given them for you to use for my Kingdom. Growth may not happen overnight but wait and press into me. It takes time to plant but as you sow the seed I will overshadow it and I will water it and cause it to grow through the power of my Holy Spirit. Be courageous and stand firm. Do not waver, be secure in me and in my promises to you and you will prevail. If you will distribute my Word and prophesy to the dry bones I will break open and birth in this place an increase that will amaze you. I have given you all of my authority to go in and occupy nations and release those who are hell bound. They will become your descendants. You and your spiritual children will take possession of the inheritance I have given to you.”
