2 Corinthians 1:20-21 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

These promises include a new character, supernatural abilities and giftings, blessings, protection, provision, peace, joy, healing, wholeness, eternal life, and the strength to stand against opposition just to name a few. These promises flow to us because we have been made partakers of God’s Divine nature by virtue of the fact that we are now sons and daughters of God. He now takes ownership and responsibility for us and has sealed his ownership with the Holy Spirit who now lives within us. ( John 14:17 )

Verse 21 says He anointed us. Anointing signifies a setting apart, a consecration and a making holy for service. Kings, Priests, prophets, and even Temple furnishings and buildings were anointed for holy sacred use. When we gave our lives to Jesus, He came to live within us by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ whose name means the Anointed One now dwells in us. The same anointing that was given to Jesus has now been given to us because it is the same Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:38 God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

Jesus said he is now always with us, the Holy Spirit is always with us.
1 John 2:20 says you have an anointing from the Holy One, & verse 27 says the anointing you received from him remains in you. That anointing guides you into all truth, it empowers you to live and discern, to have wisdom and understanding for life and it will never leave you. This supernatural ability is for your personal life.

But there is also an anointing that is available to every believer that empowers you to minister. It is the coming upon, that anointing is the power of the Holy Spirit through you for the sake of others, not just in you.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

The word power is the word dunamis, it is the dynamic, explosive power of God, to witness in this context is not merely to speak but to demonstrate by action ( dynamic explosive action) the power of God. This is exactly how Jesus lived, it’s how the Apostles lived, how Paul and Peter lived, it’s how the early church lived. Without the dynamic power of God flowing in and through our lives Christianity simply becomes boring. It is the reason so many Christians lose interest and fail to find fulfillment in life or the church. If we can begin to understand the awesomeness of God’s promises to us, to understand that the power of God is not simply somewhere out there for a special spiritual elite to tap into, but that Jesus qualified us all, and empowered us all by sealing us with the precious Holy Spirit who now dwells within us, we would never find the Christian life dull or boring ever again, our prayer must be, God break out of me in the fullness of power that is Christ in me.
